Fans of jazz, rock and blue-eyed soul get ready for Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers! These two iconic bands of the 70s are teaming up for a truly incredible tour across North America. Dubbed The Summer Of Living Dangerously, 2018 will see Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers land at the Shoreline Amphitheatre on Friday 1st June. Fans of either band can’t afford to miss it!!
Their first big run of shows since the death of Walter Becker last year, Donald Fagan is staying true to his statement following Becker’s death to “keep the music we created together alive as long as I can with the Steely Dan band”. Known for their cryptic lyrics and high standards of production, Steely Dan became huge in the 70s with their unique sound, which blended rock, jazz and R&B.
The Doobie Brothers, similarly, started off with a rock n’ roll sound that progressed to a soul sound in 1975 with the addition of new band member Michael McDonald. Known for their elaborate vocal harmonies, in 2004, the group were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The two groups have a linked history, having shared stages in the past and performed at the Bluesfest in London last year.
