Feel the need for speed? This concert event will get you into music overdrive! The Honda Civic Tour 2012 will make a pit stop at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View, CA on September 7, 2012, Friday at 8:00 pm, headlined by rock alternative greats Linkin Park and Incubus.
Since 2001, Honda Motor Company holds an annual concert tour billed as the Honda Civic Tour. Each year, big-named artists from the alternative, pop, hardcore and rock genres, are invited to headline the event. This year 2012, it’s Linkin Park and Incubus’ turn to shake the ground, with the special participation of electro-rock group Mutemath.
Linkin Park’s meteoric rise to fame began with the album “Hybrid Theory”, which gave the public a taste of their signature nu metal rap-rock style. The album spawned massive hits like “Crawling”, “One Step Closer”, “Papercut”, “In The End”, among others. Following the heels of “Hybrid Theory” was the album “Meteora”. “Somewhere I Belong”, “Breaking The Habit”, “Faint”, and “Numb”, were all chart-topping singles. These albums and succeeding releases gave them two Grammy Awards, multi-platinum album sales of over 50 million albums sold worldwide. At present, Linkin Park has just released their new album “Living Things”. Expect them to spin new tracks from the album, plus explosive doses of their monster hits.
Incubus started their music exploits way back in 1991, yet got their initial taste of record success in 1997 with the album S.C.I.E.N.C.E., even without mainstream media exposure on radio and televesion. Their second album “Make Yourself”, sparked mainstream interest with the singles “Drive”, “Stellar”, and “Pardon Me”, selling over 500,000 copies. The release of their third album in 2001, entitled “Morning View”, really pushed them into the limelight with the singles “Wish You Were Here”, “Nice To Know You”, “Are You In?”, and “Warning”. Incubus’ is widely praised for their style — a genre of music that you couldn’t quite pin down. They innovatively utilize various elements of alterna-rock, metal, electro, funk, techno, trip hop, and nu metal.
The Honda Civic tour also has a yearly tradition of not just mounting epic concerts, but also of customizing vehicles that are displayed at every tour stop. This year, they will unveil a Honda Civic Si Coupe and a Honda CBR250R motorcycle autographed by Linkin Park.
